Description

Lipoic Acid Introduction

Lipoic Acid is a kind of light-yellow powder with a chemical formula of C8H14O2S2. Lipoic Acid is a substance that has better antioxidant effects than vitamins A, C, and E. It can eliminate free radicals that accelerate aging and disease. At the same time, lipoic acid has many beneficial effects on the human body. Lipoic acid is a restrictive essential nutrient required for cells to use sugar and other energy materials to produce energy. It is also an effective antioxidant and heavy metal chelator. The body can synthesize an appropriate amount of lipoic acid, but when under stress or disease, its synthesis cannot meet the required amount. Like many important substances in the body, the content of lipoic acid decreases with age.

Lipoic Acid Features

Among many antioxidants, Lipoic Acid has its unique versatility. It is both water-soluble and fat-soluble, which can protect all tissues and interstitial spaces in the body. It can not only resist a variety of free radicals (such as oxide anions, hydroxide ions, singlet oxygen and hydrogen peroxide) but also can chelate with metal ions (such as iron, copper, cadmium, lead, mercury, and other metal ions).

Another important effect of Lipoic Acid is to lower blood sugar. Due to its anti-oxidation, metal chelation, and blood sugar lowering properties, lipoic acid can prevent hyperglycemia and cross-link (hyperglycemia and cross-linking are important causes of aging and are closely related to the formation of wrinkles).
