Description
Alginic Acid Introduction
Alginic Acid is a viscous organic acid. The product is white to yellowish-brown powder. The average molecular weight is about 240000. It is slightly soluble in hot water, the viscosity of its aqueous solution is 4 times higher than that of starch, insoluble in cold water and organic solvents, and slowly soluble in alkaline solution. Alginate is mainly used as the raw material of sodium alginate and other salts and in the manufacture of stomach capping drugs. It is also used for excipients, adhesives, and stabilizers of tablets. It is often used as a thickener and emulsifier in food and cosmetics.
