Description
Cynarin Introduction
Cynarin is found in the leaves of the artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.), an ancient herbal medicine.
Artichoke has been used as an herbal remedy for indigestion. It is also used to treat digestive tract diseases including abdominal pain, abdominal distention, and nausea. It will help lower blood lipid and anti-atherosclerosis.
Experiments have shown that Cynarin reduces blood lipid mainly by affecting the synthesis and decomposition of cholesterol and lipids in the liver to regulate lipid levels, so as to prevent the occurrence of atherosclerosis.
The study on the antioxidant function of artichoke mainly focused on the leaf extract. It is found that the antioxidant capacity of polyphenols extracted from artichoke is mainly determined by the number of hydroxyl groups on the aromatic ring. The more hydroxyl groups are contained, the stronger the antioxidant capacity is. In addition, the second hydroxyl group in the ortho and para position can also increase its antioxidant capacity.
