Evening Primrose Oil Description
Evening primrose oil is extracted from seeds of evening primrose, which contains abundant GLA and has many therapeutic functions. The human body cannot synthesize itself, so it must be taken from food. Capsules made of evening primrose oil can treat cardiovascular diseases, PMS, and menopause syndrome.
Evening Primrose Oil Application
Evening primrose oil (Oenothera biennis) is a commonly used alternative therapy and a rich source of omega-6 essential fatty acids. It is best known for its use in the treatment of systemic diseases marked by chronic inflammation, such as atopic dermatitis and rheumatoid arthritis. It is often used for several women’s health conditions, including breast pain (mastalgia), menopausal and premenstrual symptoms, cervical ripening, and labor induction or augmentation.
Evening Primrose Oil Health Benefits
Evening primrose oil has been promoted as an effective treatment for a variety of ailments, including eczema and breast pain, since the 1930s. Many of these benefits are attributed to GLA, a fatty acid found in soybeans, walnuts, seeds, and vegetable oils (like rapeseed, canola, and linseed oil). Some of the claims are better supported by research than others.
